I loathe hunters this time of year, and not for the reasons you might think. I always get offers to ride along for the deer hunt or many have even suggested I get a license to join them in the hunt which is something I simply will not do. When I'm pressed as to why I won't join, I say that I'm not big into killing animals and the thought of shooting a living creature really and truly upsets me, but that doesn't mean that THEY shouldn't go hunting.
Inevitably I get a long lecture about how hunting is necessary and don't I understand that otherwise the deer would starve and blah, blah, blah. Then I get told that tree-huggers are good for nothings and stupid and I get to hear a ton of bloody, gory stories about shooting animals and then I'm called a hypocrite for eating meat.
It's funny how the part that I'm pro-hunting as long as it's done responsibly gets thrown out the window.
Seriously, I fukking hate it. | |
